Women went into work of all kinds in World War One to help the country while the men were away fighting on the front line.

WW1 and the suffragettes
During World War One the suffragettes encouraged women to get involved with war work and no longer think of themselves as domestic workers. Women worked in factories and fields. Some poloticians changed their views and working helped the cause of the sufragettes towards getting the vote for women.
